Share our top survival techniques as they relate to business or travel. Working in an unfamiliar culture? Don’t speak the local language? What critical nuances are you missing? Corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives are required to create sustainable international business relationships but are not sufficient. Testimonials
I very much enjoyed your presentation Great slides, a compelling story, and of course, your sense of humor. Hopefully there is some way of letting the geological community know when your book is released.- Hans S.
Outstanding presentation! Very enjoyable and very well received. Time flew by…- Jurgen K.
It was Wow & Wow! Covering all that you have as to the East and West side of Africa…. Plus – it is a wonder you could cover most of it all off in one evening! You could spend a great deal of time just on each side story to every stop along the way I’m sure. We really enjoyed the whole evening. As we are neophytes as to any kind of adventure travelling – taking us along on your adventures in Africa (and beyond) was great! Thanks again for the presentation- Pat & Patti Meadows.
The presentation was gracefully assembled and presented. It at once detailed the moment by moment excitement of the road trips, often apparently dangerous, whilst intermingling with it vibrant imagery and a sense of the sacredness of the Natural Realm. The patter/description was very funny! What thrill! Thank you Jan and Tom- Ron and Mary S, B.C.
Just wanted to thank you very much for the entertaining evening You were right about not having experienced travel like that. What an interesting way to go and the tent on top has me thinking. You can count this presentation as a big success.- Doug
What fun-Thank you for a very enjoyable evening! We loved hearing of your adventures, seeing your photos and videos, and we look forward to updates from wherever your travels may take you. Please add us to your email list. Happy Trails!- Dorothy M & Terry S
We had such a great evening at the presentation last night. Tom and Janet’s stories and photos were fascinating and funny – so entertaining and inspiring.- Ann
Tom and Janet are so entertaining, great speakers, AND great photographers. Wow! To think I don’t even like driving the Coquilhalla!!! My idea of roughing it is going to an American resort in a sailboat and having to reach into a plastic bag for ice cubes!Joanne and Mike
It was great not only to hear Tom and Janet speak and present but also to have so much time just to chat with them. What an impressive couple with so much to offer but without any apparent need to impress. It was a treat to meet people so mindful about themselves and the world.- Anne & Graham W
Thank you very much for inviting us in to the ‘Travelogue ‘ evening. The presentation was outstanding and thought provoking on many levels!! Janet & Tom were very engaging & interesting, especially with their tag team anecdotes accompanying the slides & video.- Val & Ken
We had the pleasure of attending one of Janet and Tom’s presentation in Victoria, BC. This was not the first time we have enjoyed listening to these two travellers and were not disappointed in this presentation. Their pictures and videos are amazing and bring you closer to their experiences. The couple are well travelled and share the good, the bad, and the ugly of travelling in some challenging locales. It is a big world and Janet and Thomas brought it closer to their audience. This couple were humorous and engaging and the people around us were completely enthralled, as we were. If you have the opportunity to attend one of their travelogues, you should.- Jan and Bob
Such a wonderful presentation and I am so glad that I came last night. So many amazing stories; some disheartening and yet your positive encouragement to travel to Africa resonated. I hope to make it to Ghana soon, and yes it will be a little bit out of my comfort zone! This is the plot of a blockbuster movie! In awe, admiration and envy! Remarkable adventure. Think we scratched the surface with the stories though! Love to hear more and the America’s trip too! This was a great presentation; at times very funny and other times very sad. Interesting, thought-provoking and enjoyable. Thank you.- Patricia
Thanks for a great — and thought provoking — evening. It was fascinating to, hear their stories, and consider how we could/should inject a bit more global (and personal) exploration in our lives. Not sure where this might take us!- Joy
Testimonials from School Children
“The story of the floating islands in Peru made me realize just how much humans can do when they work together and are resilient. I learned that resilience can be the wall between life and death in some circumstances – like the kids in Africa playing in water that could give them diseases and the whole community pitching in to help build the fresh water pump. Their talk was very inspiring.” – Kate
“Before I didn’t have any idea what human resilience was. But when I saw the presentation that Tom and Janet gave, I learned that human resilience means to conquer your fears and work together.” – Kate
“I learned that resilience is no matter what happens you don’t give up. Have hope, faith, and courage. Think outside the box. Don’t give up. Believe in yourself. Be happy!” – Caoimhe
“I learned that resiliency is not just with humans it is also with animals and maybe even insects. Just a few days ago I didn’t really think about resiliency but now I think a lot about what it would be like.” – Tyler
“I have learned that even in the worst conditions, some can still smile. That I think shows good human resilience because even though some kids don’t have clean water or don’t have enough food to eat, they still have family and friends who help each other through difficult times.” – Megan
